Growth reported in accounting jobs in the USThe number of accounting jobs in the US has expanded, despite the recession, it has been revealed.

According to the North American Press Syndicate, college graduates from fields such as finance have seen high levels of demand for their skills, with further rises anticipated.

Although the overall jobs market remains slow, the news source explained that specialized fields are still witnessing strong growth, making them more attractive than ever to graduates.

The article pointed to US Bureau of Labor Statistics figures showing there are over five candidates for each position available, prompting schools to expand accounting programmes in order to meet higher demand for places in this rapidly expanding sector.

Tamryn Hennessy, Rasmussen College's national director of career development, explained: "As regulators are tightening their scrutiny on company finances across the board, there is urgency in the industry for the most up-to-date accounting candidates."

Latest data show unemployment fell during June 2010 in 39 states of the US and Washington DC, as the country sees signs of recovery from the recession.
